01 / THE APPROACH

Your story comes first.
The treatment follows.

Chinese medicine starts with the whole person: your health history, your daily life, and what you hope will change. I take time to listen, explain the plan, and adapt care to your needs.

My practice brings classical study into a warm, down-to-earth setting. Gentle technique, clear communication, and your comfort guide each visit. You have a say in every step.

02 / MEET BEN

A lifelong student.
A community-minded practitioner.

Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and hypothyroidism in 2015, Benjamin Leventer embarked on a transformative journey to reclaim his health. After experiencing the life-changing benefits of Chinese medicine, he decided to dedicate his life to helping others through this powerful practice.

Benjamin earned his doctorate in Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine from Alhambra Medical University. Fluent in Mandarin, he apprenticed with renowned practitioners, including Master herbalist Zhu Feng and classical acupuncturist Master Hong. He continues to study advanced techniques such as Applied Channel Theory, Master Tung’s extraordinary points, and Dr. Tan’s Balance Method.

Grounded in the Chinese medicine philosophy of "同病异治,异病同治" (tóng bìng yì zhì, yì bìng tóng zhì), Benjamin tailors every treatment to the unique needs of each patient.

CARE THAT REACHES FURTHER

Good care belongs
in the community.

Affordable care, shared spaces, and a welcome for every body. These are the commitments that shape my work.

I’ve worked to make Chinese medicine more approachable. If you’re looking for a sliding-scale event or interested in bringing acupuncture to your community, let’s connect.

03 / YOUR FIRST VISIT

Come as you are.
We’ll start there.

New to acupuncture? You don’t need to know the terminology or have it all figured out. We’ll make room for your questions.

01 /

A conversation

We discuss what brought you in, your health history, and your priorities. Bring your medication and supplement list, and any questions.

02 /

A plan together

I explain the approach and proposed treatment. Tell me what feels comfortable, and what you’d like me to know before we begin.

03 /

Time for care

Treatment is tailored to you. Afterward, we check in and discuss follow-up. Comfortable, loose clothing is helpful.

A few things you might be wondering.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture uses very fine needles, and most people feel little discomfort. You may notice a brief pinch, pressure, tingling, or a dull ache. Tell me if anything feels sharp or uncomfortable so I can adjust the treatment. Your comfort helps guide the session.

What is acupuncture based on?

Acupuncture is part of Chinese medicine. Its traditional framework uses channels, qi, and patterns of disharmony to guide treatment for each person. Modern research investigates effects on the nervous system and local tissues. The traditional framework guides clinical practice, while the full biological mechanisms are still being explored.

Is acupuncture supported by modern scientific research?

Yes—for some conditions, particularly chronic pain. A 2018 analysis in The Journal of Pain combined 39 randomized trials involving 20,827 participants. It found better pain outcomes with acupuncture than with no acupuncture, and a smaller benefit compared with sham acupuncture, for conditions including chronic back or neck pain, osteoarthritis, and chronic headaches. Evidence varies by condition, and research findings do not guarantee an individual result.

Is acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture generally has a low risk of complications when performed by a qualified practitioner using sterile, single-use needles. Temporary soreness, minor bleeding, or bruising can occur; serious complications are rare but possible. Tell me about pregnancy, blood thinners, bleeding disorders, or a pacemaker before treatment, especially if electrical stimulation is being considered.

How many treatments will I need?

There is no single schedule for everyone. The number and spacing of visits depend on your concern, how long it has been present, and how you respond. We’ll agree on an initial plan, check your progress, and adjust the frequency together.

Can we speak Mandarin during my visit?

Yes. I’m fluent in Mandarin and happy to conduct your visit in English, Mandarin, or a mix of both. Let the clinic know your preference when arranging your appointment.

What’s different about community acupuncture?

Community acupuncture brings people into a shared treatment space, often using comfortable chairs. Care is still individualized. Event formats and fees vary, so ask about the next event before coming.

How do fees and insurance work?

Fees and insurance arrangements vary by location and visit type. Contact E & H Acupuncture Clinic to confirm current fees and whether it accepts your insurance plan. A Beautiful Day Spa lists self-pay care. Confirm Ben’s availability with the clinic before booking.

I feel nervous about treatment. Can we talk first?

Absolutely. Let me know about your concerns or any past experiences you want me to understand. We can talk through the plan, and you can ask to pause or stop at any time.
